General Public Lab Testing
Direct Lab Access is a quick, easy, and inexpensive way for you to receive lab tests. It is a health care resource that is open to the general public Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the lab at CentraCare - Rice Memorial Hospital.
If you do not have healthcare insurance, or if you have high insurance deductible and co-pays, you may find Direct Lab Access to be an affordable way to get the information you need.

Questions about lab tests?
Most of the Direct Lab Access test results come with a handout explaining the normal range for that particular test. For more detailed information, please contact your healthcare provider.

A physician’s order is not required, however, we encourage you to share the results with your healthcare provider.

Where do I go to get the tests?
Direct Lab Access is located on the first floor of Rice Memorial Hospital. You do not need to register in the lobby. Go directly to the lab.

When are you open?
The tests are available Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Do I need to fast beforehand?
All tests that recommend or require fasting are noted on the Lab Test menu.

How long will it take?
It takes just a few minutes for the test sample to be taken. Depending on the test, results may be available in about an hour. Some tests may take up to a few days to receive results. All results will be sent directly to you at the address you provide. Any abnormal results will be noted by the pathologist.

Will you bill my insurance company?
Your insurance will not be billed. All tests must be paid for by cash, check or credit card at the time of the test.

Do I need to be 18?
Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
