What is tricuspid regurgitation?

The tricuspid valve is located on the right side of your heart. If the valve leaks, the blood goes backwards (called regurgitation). Many people have some degree of tricuspid regurgitation, but if it becomes severe, it can cause symptoms of extreme bloating and fluid retention in your stomach, or significant swelling in your legs.

How do I know if I need tricuspid valve repair?

If you are diagnosed with severe tricuspid regurgitation, and medicine doesn’t improve symptoms, you might be referred to have an evaluation for a tricuspid valve repair.
