Cancer Support
We'll Help You Find Your Way
Cancer changes lives. As you move through therapy or transition back to work and home, you'll likely need support along the way. We are committed to helping you through the process and making sure you have access to the resources you need to enhance your life throughout your time as a cancer patient.
Psychosocial Support
Psychosocial support specialists (social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists) are available to help patients and their families cope with different emotional aspects of a cancer diagnosis. They collaborate with the patient’s care team to meet the psychosocial, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families.
Cancer Support and Education Groups
Cancer education and support are an important part of the cancer treatment process. Knowing others who are dealing with cancer may help you cope with your own cancer-related experiences. CentraCare - Willmar Cancer Center has programs to help you and your loved ones understand and manage the physical, emotional and spiritual challenges of cancer.
Cancer Support Group – The cancer support group is open to anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer, any stage, any age. Our support group focuses on building connections and friendships. This group will be facilitated by our Care Coordinator, Sarah Linn, RN, OCN. Knowing everybody has at least one thing in common to tie you together -cancer- can make it easier to open up, share, cry, and laugh. Our facilitator will make sure nobody is forced to share more than they are comfortable with. We meet the 4th Monday of every month from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the CentraCare - Willmar Cancer Center. Online RSVP is required. Meeting dates are subject to change. An email address is required so we can notify you of any meeting cancellations or postponements. Questions? Please contact Sarah at 320-231-4596 or sarah.linn@centracare.com.

Emotional and Spiritual Support
A cancer diagnosis can cause a variety of mental health issues to rise to the surface, including anxiety and depression. Patients and family members are encouraged to share their fears and concerns with the cancer care coordinator, who can make a referral for services. A full-time, non-denominational chaplain is also available for patients and their families for spiritual counseling and support.
New Do Salon
The “New Do Salon,” located off the CentraCare - Willmar Cancer Center main lobby, provides wigs and head coverings free of charge through generous donations that community members and organizations have raised for the Cancer Care Fund. You can decide to try a whole new look or emulate what your hair looked like before cancer treatment.
