Mammography
We Offer State-of-the-Art Mammograms across Greater Minnesota
Mammography is the most effective way to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages. During your mammogram at CentraCare, our team will assist you through the process and answer any questions you might have. We have some of the most advanced equipment available for more detailed and accurate results.
Preparing for Your Mammogram
While it can be slightly uncomfortable, a mammogram is generally not a painful or difficult experience. After talking to your doctor about how often you should receive this important screening, you should schedule your mammogram the week following your period, when your breasts are the least tender. Our team will do everything possible to make your mammogram more comfortable and convenient.
Basic tips to prepare for your mammogram:
- Bring previous results with you if you have had a mammogram before
- If you find mammograms uncomfortable, consider taking ibuprofen one hour before your appointment
- You will have to remove your top, so a two-piece outfit is recommended.
- Do not use deodorant, powder or skin lotion as these can interfere with results
- Reduce caffeine and sugar intake three days leading to your appointment
- Speak up if you have questions or have any pain during the exam
Screening vs Diagnostic Mammograms
