Sisters Deliver Babies On the Same Day
Birthing Services“During our pregnancies, I had always hoped that we would deliver on the same day. But logic told me that the chance of that happening was just too far-fetched.”
Sisters Chasidy Chamberlin from Clearwater and Madison Milne from Clear Lake always have shared a close bond. However, on June 29, 2020, their connection became even stronger when they gave birth to their sons on the same day at CentraCare – Monticello.
“When I found out I was pregnant, I could not wait to tell Chasidy,” said Madison. “But when I arrived at her house, I was the one who was in for the surprise when she told me that she, too, was pregnant!”
The sisters shared their pregnancy journey together. Chasidy, who has a two-year-old son, Jack, and a 12-year-old stepson, Cole, provided Madison, a first-time mom, with comfort and laughs along the way. They even learned that they had the same physician, Dr. Timothy Olson, OB/GYN at Stellis Health and the Medical Director of the Birth Center at CentraCare – Monticello.
“During our pregnancies, I had always hoped that we would deliver on the same day,” said Chasidy. “But logic told me that the chance of that happening was just too far-fetched.”
When Chasidy arrived at the hospital, she was filled with excitement but she also knew that hospital safety guidelines, due to COVID-19, would limit the number of visitors who would be able to visit her and her husband, Lee, to meet their newest family member when he arrived.
When Evan Laron Chamberlin was born at 8:07 a.m., weighing 9 pounds, 8 ounces, and measuring 21½-inches long, Lee immediately sent out a photo to friends and family.
“When I saw the photo of Evan, I was so happy for my sister … and then my water broke,” said Madison.Madison and her husband, Ken, wanted to keep the fact that she was in labor and coming to the hospital as a surprise for her sister. But Chasidy soon found out, in fact, that her sister was in the room right next to hers.
While Madison labored for 12 hours, Chasidy was able to walk around after the birth of Evan and provide comfort and support for her sister.
“I was very emotional during labor,” said Madison. “Having my sister near allowed me to feel comfortable and I could lose my emotions with her. The nurses also were very supportive and created a calm and peaceful atmosphere during my recovery.”
“It was a great experience to care for these two sisters and witness their shared joy of delivering on the same day,” said Dr. Olson. “It also was so wonderful that they had each other during a time when current safety precautions, including visitor restrictions, might not have allowed for them to be together otherwise.”
Henry Robert Milne was born at 11:16 p.m., weighing 6 pounds, 6 ounces, and measuring 19 inches long.
“They could not look more different,” said Chasidy of Evan and Henry with a laugh. “We cannot wait to have them grow up together and share birthdays and milestones.”
“I am so thankful to have been able to have my first baby with my sister by my side to support me,” said Madison. “Having that experience with someone you are so close to is very special. Everyone should have their baby the same day as their sister!”
