Biography What I Do
I have three primary practice areas: outpatient behavioral health therapy; behavioral sleep medicine; and psychological testing/assessment.My outpatient therapy is focused on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is a type of therapy that focuses on the relationships between our thoughts, emotions and behaviors. People often develop habits in the way they think, feel and act. These habits may have worked very well in the past but may be causing problems now. Using CBT can help examine these habits and learn new ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving.
Behavioral sleep medicine is focused on helping people get better sleep. I enjoy this work because the need for sleep is universal and improving sleep improves thinking, feeling and physical health. I practice a specific kind of CBT called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia which focuses on the biological aspects of sleeping and waking in addition to our habitual thoughts, feelings and behaviors which may get in the way of good, consistent sleep.
Most of my psychological testing/assessment has focused on adult Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and memory evaluations.
