Biography Why I Love My Work
Growing up, I was a caretaker for my grandmother and after that experience I knew I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare helping people and making a difference in people's lives. In college, I worked as a CNA at a nursing home where I had a patient who used an eye gaze AAC device to communicate. Working side by side with the patient and their speech language pathologist, I knew that speech language pathology was the specialty for me.
Why I Love My Work
What I enjoy most about my job is knowing I am impacting my patients' lives forever is hands down, the best part of the job. Whether it is teaching a patient how to say an /r/, use a communication device, follow directions, understand nonverbal social cues, speak without stuttering, or sign “cookie,” knowing that my interventions are helping my patients communicate and that those skills will help them their whole life is the very reason I do what I do.
Getting to Know Me
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with friends and family and spending time at the lake. One unique fact about me is that I have a goldendoodle named Bodie.
