Published in Media Releases

CentraCare M Physicians Orthopedics has been chosen as the exclusive medical partner of St. Cloud State University Athletics. Under this relationship, CentraCare will provide sports medicine services, including mental health services, to St. Cloud State athletes.

St Cloud State director of sports medicine, Rachel Johnson, said, “CentraCare has come in seamlessly with extraordinary, top-notch, orthopedic and sports medicine services for our Huskies athletes. Their doctors and therapists are dedicated to providing the best services possible for our collegiate athletes. St Cloud State Athletics could not be more excited to work with their team of sports medicine experts.”

The range of services offered to St. Cloud State is unprecedented for the university. “We wanted to take sports medicine to the next level at St. Cloud State,” said George Morris, MD, sports medicine physician at CentraCare M Physicians Orthopedics. “A first-rate program must offer everything from nutrition counseling, to athletic trainers, to sports psychology support, to rehabilitation and more. CentraCare is proud to serve our young athletes in this way.”

According to Kyle Martin, MD, an orthopedic surgeon in the practice, “We’re interested in educating our student athletes on how to engage in sports safely and to prevent injuries. But, when injuries occur, we have the specialized training and expertise to help them rebound.”

CentraCare’s vision of helping students achieve sports health is shared by Bryan DeMaine, athletic trainer at SCSU, “St. Cloud State Athletics now has a committed resource to strengthen its goal of injury prevention, education, and rehabilitation, which are essential to sport performance. This new relationship will be a huge benefit to both our Athletic Training staff and our student athletes.”

CentraCare M Physicians begins services to St. Cloud State with this fall’s sports season. According to interim director of athletics, Holly Schreiner, “These new services are a game changer. What CentraCare is bringing to the table with their wide range of services will allow us to better serve our student-athlete population.”
