CentraCare – Long Prairie Now Offering 3D Mammography
CentraCare – Long Prairie is pleased to announce that patients now have the ability to schedule 3D mammograms.
3D mammography is the best tool for providing increased accuracy, earlier diagnosis, and reducing false reports and the need for additional scans. 3D imaging produces less shadows in the breast, which confirms healthy tissue and increases the accuracy for diagnosis. The American Cancer Society recommends an initial mammogram for women at age 40, and every year afterwards, unless there are other risk concerns.
“This is exciting. We have been planning for this and are now able to offer the very latest in mammography technology to our local patients, close to home, which is extremely important for area community members," said Mark Dingmann, Director of Imaging Services for Long Prairie.
Women have the flexibility to continue with traditional mammogram or to utilize 3D. CentraCare recommends individuals confirm coverage with their insurance provider. To schedule your 3D mammogram, contact your provider through MyChart or call 320-732-2131.
