Make Kindness the Norm
Celebrate Random Acts of Kindness!
We’ve talked about the science behind kindness and the benefits you get from being kind. Did you know that you can just see others doing acts of kindness and get a benefit? See how contagious kindness is.
In the last two years, we have been very conscious of not spreading COVID-19. But the pandemic has taken a toll on our mental health and happiness. We need to spread kindness in 2022!
Here are some ideas from the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation:
- Send an encouraging email. Share your support with a co-worker, family member or friend.
- Write a handwritten letter. Going old school will make someone feel extra special.
- Find out something new about a co-worker. Take the time to show that you care about your colleague as a person.
- Be a welcoming neighbor. Introduce yourself and bring a little welcome gift.
- Talk to a senior about the past. Older adults have a wealth of wisdom and great stories to share.
- Have a judgment-free day. Keep an open mind and assume good intent.
- Complain less. Focus your thoughts on the positive things in your life — an attitude of gratitude.
- Be kind to your server. Businesses are short-staffed so it’s important to be patient.
- Leave a generous tip. This is guaranteed to make someone’s day.
- Leave a surprise for your mail carrier or delivery person. We have relied on home delivery during the pandemic. Show your appreciation with a note thanks and small gift.
- Fill a birdfeeder with seed. Your feathered friends will appreciate your generosity.
- Pick up trash. Make the world a better place one piece of litter at a time.
- Be spontaneous! When you are looking for random acts of kindness, the opportunities will appear.
