CentraCare Pediatrician Receives Minnesota Medical Association 2021 President’s Award
CentraCare Pediatrician Jill Amsberry, DO, was honored this week by the Minnesota Medical Association (MMA) with the 2021 President’s Awards. The award was presented virtually prior to the MMA annual conference. This year two physicians were chosen: Dr. Amsberry and Nathan Chomilo, MD.
The President’s Award is designated for individuals who have made outstanding contributions in service to the goals of the MMA: Making Minnesotans the healthiest in the nation; and making Minnesota the best place to practice.
Current MMA President Marilyn Peitso, MD, a CentraCare pediatric hospitalist, presented the award virtually to Dr. Amsberry. She said Dr. Amsberry was chosen because of the amazing leadership she has shown in the area of COVID-19 vaccination allocation and equity.
Since last September, Dr. Amsberry has held a position on the Minnesota Department of Health’s COVID-19 Vaccine Allocation Advisory Group. This group worked in the early days of vaccination to prioritize populations hit hardest by the pandemic.
Dr. Amsberry has continued this work in the St. Cloud area supporting an amazing team of community partners, vaccinators, and community health specialists to vaccinate people who might have missed out on the opportunity. She has taken many hours of personal time to be present at vaccination events at mosques, churches, and other community events to answer questions about the vaccine and promote trust in the health care system.
Dr. Amsberry also serves as the medical director of the pediatric and adolescent clinic at CentraCare and is a faculty member University of Minnesota St. Cloud Family Medicine Residency.
