Published in Media Releases

Uzma Samadani, MD, PhD, has joined CentraCare Neurosciences where she will bring her expertise to general adult neurosurgery including brain and spine procedures.

Dr. Samadani comes to CentraCare from Hennepin County Medical Center and the University of Minnesota where she worked since 2015. She continues to serve as an Associate Professor in the Department of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, School of Engineering and is a graduate faculty member in Neurosciences.

“I chose to move my neurosurgical practice to CentraCare for three reasons: resources, people and community. I am very much a techie neurosurgeon, but most importantly I want to be able to provide innovative care to my patients. When I see a patient in the hospital, I want to be able to look them in the eye and tell them that I will do everything I can for them because I have the resources and facilities to provide state of the art care.”

She is an internationally recognized neurosurgeon, having been principal investigator on studies related to brain injury and brain hemorrhage. Dr. Samadani has patented several inventions, has won numerous awards and has over 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications for her work in neurosurgery. She has been named a Top Doctor in Minneapolis four years in a row and a Top Doctor in Minnesota the last two years.

She is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and American Association of Neurological Surgeons.

Her research on brain injury has been discussed in the New York Times, LeMonde, LeFigaro, Wired, Washington Post, Sports Illustrated, Forbes, and Minneapolis Star Tribune as well as numerous other media sources.
