Community event aims to prevent deaths by suicide

Join community partners from 6-8:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at CentraCare Plaza, Windfeldt Room, 1900 CentraCare Circle, St. Cloud for a free viewing of Suicide The Ripple Effect.

The film chronicles the story of Kevin Hines, who at age 19 attempted to take his life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge. Since then, Kevin has been on a mission to use his story to help others find recovery and stay alive and has become the world’s most prominent suicide prevention speaker and advocate. The film also features some of the world’s leading suicide prevention experts and shines a light on people who are using personal experiences with suicide to help others find the hope they need. This community event aims to engage and empower ourselves and our communities to prevent deaths by suicide.

Along with viewing the documentary, there also will be a panel discussion that will include local community members who will share their personal stories of hope and healing. To register, go online, email camhi@co.benton.mn.us or call 320-968-5277.

This event is hosted by CentraCare, Central Minnesota Mental Health Center, St. Cloud VA Health Care System and the CommUNITY Adult Mental Health Initiative in recognition of Suicide Prevention Month.
