Diabetes Prevention Program kicks off Jan. 21

Published in Media Releases

Today, approximately 86 million are living with pre-diabetes, yet nine out of ten of these adults do not know they have it because there are often no symptoms. Pre-diabetes is often a precursor to diabetes but can be reversed.

The Diabetes Prevention Program, developed by Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), is a yearlong lifestyle coaching workshop that will be starting up again on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019 at a variety of locations including the Whitney Senior Center, Centracare Health Plaza, Lifestyle Health and more.

If you have a family history of diabetes, are overweight or inactive, have high blood pressure/high cholesterol and/or want to live a healthier lifestyle, consider enrolling in this program. You can expect to lose approximately five to seven percent of your body weight (if overweight), improve your food choices, increase your physical activity, receive group support and expert coaching for one year.

For a complete list of locations, times and registration, visit www.yourjuniper.org or contact Paula Woischke at 320-202-6945 or paula.woischke@cmcoa.org. A voluntary contribution is suggested.
