Cuddle cots provide grief support for families

St. Cloud Hospital and CentraCare Health – Monticello each recently received a donation of a cuddle cot from Hope Remains, an organization whose goal it is to support families affected by miscarriage, stillbirth and infant loss.

After an infant loss, cuddle cots, which are specially designed in-room cooling beds/bassinets, provide parents with an opportunity to spend time with their baby in a personal and meaningful way.

“We are so grateful for the generous donation from Hope Remains,” said Hannah Whalen, birth center manager, CentraCare Health – Monticello. “The cuddle cots demonstrate CentraCare’s commitment to supporting the well-being of families during very difficult times. Our goal is for parents to find comfort in knowing they can hold or take photos of their baby to create a lasting and loving memorial that they will always cherish.”

Hope Remains received the funding for the cuddle cots through a grant from the CentraCare Health Foundation. The Foundation funds organizational or institutional proposals that improve health and safety, support health education and research and, in the case of cuddle cots, assist in the well-being of families in our community.
