End of Life Series features well-known palliative care expert
Join CentraCare Health for a special community event for caregivers and anyone facing end of life decisions. The End of Life Series will take place at the Paramount Center for the Arts from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10 featuring palliative care physician, author and educator Ira Byock, MD.
Dr. Byock is an expert on end of life care and will discuss “The Four Things That Matter Most” and how using four simple, life-affirming phrases in our day-to-day lives can improve our emotional well-being and can carry enormous power to mend and nurture our relationships and inner lives.
He will share insights and stories aimed to help people to forgive, appreciate, love and celebrate one another. Dr. Byock shows that through the very end of life, surprising degrees of emotional healing are possible. He will share how individuals can experience a sense of wholeness even in the wake of family strife, personal tragedy, divorce or in the face of death.
“While Dr. Ira Byock is an authority on the complexity and challenges of end of life issues, he addresses these issues with compassion and great insight," said Paul Harris, Vice President and General Counsel for CentraCare Health. "The community will benefit significantly from his presentation.”
This event is free and open to the public with a reserved ticket.
The End of Life Series includes a leadership seminar for health care professionals. The series is sponsored by CentraCare Health, CentraCare Health Ethics Committee, CentraCare Health Education & Professional Development Department and the Kevin Hughes Fund for Law and Ethics.
