CentraCare Health Foundation receives $250,000 grant

Published in Media Releases

The CentraCare Health Foundation was generously awarded a $250,000 grant from the Otto Bremer Trust for the new Coborn Healing Center, which will offer services that care for the mind, body and spirit of those who have experienced cancer.

The Otto Bremer Trust is a private charitable trust established in 1944 by founder Otto Bremer, a successful banker and community business leader. This year the trust awarded 150 grants totaling nearly $8.9 million to organizations that are making a positive impact throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and western Wisconsin.

“We are very grateful to the Otto Bremer Trust for this generous award in support of the new Coborn Healing Center. This new Center will complete our continuum of care as we strive to serve Central Minnesota patients and families who have experienced cancer and other diseases. Thanks to partners like the Otto Bremer Trust we are able to fulfill our mission to improve the health of every patient, every day. We are deeply appreciative for their leadership through this gift” said Brad Konkler, vice president of Philanthropy and Community Health for CentraCare Health Foundation.

Construction has started on the new Coborn Healing Center with an estimated completion date of mid-2018. It will be located adjacent to the Coborn Cancer Center at the CentraCare Health Plaza.

Once complete, the Coborn Healing Center will offer services under one roof to care for those who begin or continue their cancer journey at Coborn Cancer Center. These services will include art and music therapy, support groups, spiritual well-being, fitness classes, integrative therapy (acupuncture, massage, healing touch) and an interactive kitchen/classroom.
