CentraCare Health to offer Immunization Clinic for MMR vaccine this Wednesday

With the number of measles cases continuing to rise in Minnesota, CentraCare Health is offering an MMR immunization clinic to ensure as many people as possible are protected through vaccination.

To schedule an appointment, please call 320-200-3200. Walk-ins are welcome but an appointment is preferred.

The clinic is being offered for specific groups who need the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine. They include:

• All Somali Minnesotan children statewide who received their first dose of the MMR vaccine at least 28 days ago.
• All children 12 months and older who have not received a measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine.
• Adults born in 1957 or later who have never received the MMR vaccine and have never had measles.

The MMR vaccine is given to children in two doses, typically at 12 months and between 4-6 years. The first dose offers good protection, and the second dose provides extra security. The accelerated vaccine schedule recommended is commonly used during outbreaks.

Those attending are asked to bring immunization records with them, if available, as well as insurance information.

Anyone who is feeling ill or believes they have been exposed to the measles, should not come to the immunization clinic. They should make an appointment at their regular clinic instead.
