Cultural Café Film Festival to Feature Selma on Jan. 19

The feature film “Selma” will be shown at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 19 in the St. Cloud Hospital Hoppe Auditorium as part of CentraCare Health’s Cultural Café Film Festival.

This film tells the true story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the campaign he led, in the face of violent opposition, to secure equal voting rights. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. organized a march from Selma to Montgomery which ended in President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965. This film shows how Martin Luther King Jr. and others involved in the movement created change that would forever alter history.

A door prize drawing will occur immediately after the film; you must be present to win.

Cultural Café Film Festival selections are presented on the third Thursday of every month with films hand-picked for their relevance to cultural issues in our community. This film is being shown in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
