Cultural Café Film Festival: ‘Skins’

The feature film “Skins” will be shown at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 17 in the St. Cloud Hospital Hoppe Auditorium as part of CentraCare Health’s Cultural Café Film Festival.

This film is about two brothers, Rudy and Mogie, who live on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. The people of Pine Ridge typically struggle with joblessness and alcoholism. The brothers have vastly different lifestyles. Mogie is a Vietnam veteran with a drinking problem. Rudy is a respected law enforcement officer who becomes a vigilante in his off-hours and takes it upon himself to rough up anyone whom he thinks is destroying Pine Ridge. Rudy also plots to blow up the liquor store which profits greatly from the alcoholism that has ruined lives of numerous people, including his brother.

Cultural Café Film Festival selections are presented on the third Thursday of every month with films hand-picked for their relevance to cultural issues in our community. This film is being shown in honor of Native American Heritage month, which is celebrated in November.
