Partnership brings $4 million investment

St. Cloud, Minn. – CentraCare Health and the St. Cloud Area Family YMCA officials today announce a new partnership to improve community health. CentraCare will invest more than $4 million in the new St. Cloud Y Community and Aquatic Center.

The partnership will bring to the new YMCA CentraCare’s weight management program and other health-related services that will complement YMCA programs. Construction on the new facility is expected to begin in fall 2015.

“CentraCare is proud to partner with the Y,” said Ken Holmen, MD, CentraCare’s president and chief executive officer. “By working together, we can maximize our ability to improve the health of the people who live in this region. Weight management, in particular, is a major health issue to which the Y can bring its recognized expertise and CentraCare can provide the clinical component.”

“We are excited about this opportunity to improve the health of our community,” said Greg Gack, executive director of the St. Cloud Area Family YMCA. “We have partnered for years with CentraCare and it is natural to further expand this partnership with on-site weight management and health services from CentraCare. YMCA and health care organization partnerships of this kind are not new. They are working successfully in YMCAs across the country and bringing real meaningful change in their respective communities.”
